Here is the storyboard and explanation to my animated advert. And also here is the link to my animation again.

Changes

Towards the end of my ‘Chung Blast’ animation, I have an amount of text appear to promote the drink with a quirky slogan. Now the remark was fine, but on presentation, a few of my uni colleagues established that the text looked a bit… bad. Bad in that I had selected a generic font, added a blurred shadow effect behind and slapped it on with little care. Big mistake.

I decided to take a little think in to what comes across as flashy, messy, and in general a manic style so that it would match the ideals of the product and animation. Here are some of the digital drafts i came up:

Text Chung Blast

They are a little rushed because I didn’t want to spend a life time on them and I have an attendance to do that on tiny things like this. Its pretty clear which one I went for.

Surprisingly it was kind of easy to design in Illustrator. Most of what I wanted to do for it was designed as one of the settings. I basically went for a ‘Bauhaus 93′ style of font for the boldness, and then applied a chalk stroke to it. This gave it the scruffy outer edging appearance.

Blarghfragan

Oh so very tired. I have completed what I believe to be my submission for the animated advert. Its nice and short, fitting around the thirty-second planned time frame. its colourful, presents the product of the advertisement and also includes a little humour too.

Now the original plan was to, through different ideas and development, have a character develop up from a scenario in which he becomes thirsty, drinks the product and consequently his head explodes (not sure how it ties in with the product exactly but good enough for the humour part). The target audience for this advert is of course teenagers, mainly college and university students.

Unfortunately, and I mean a huge “Going out tomorrow to start developing my library so this won’t happen again” unfortunately, there is no sound. This seems to be the biggest set back for me so hopefully with the library developed (tomorrow) I’ll re upload the video again with sound.

There is a storyboard and all the other info that goes with developing this sort of animation (such as character development and visual design etc). The main inspiration for this animation though was from an advert that I had developed for one of the other products that I could design an advertisement for. As I write this though i am yet coming up with other ideas (with some collaborating with others of course) such as the idea for the drink to crash into a power station and the whole planet lights up, with the message “Serious energy”.

I will post the other work as soon as I have it digitalized and rendered for appropriate viewing, .

Oh, the title was because I couldn’t think what to name this post and because it was half-four in the morning.

Advert In Progress

This is hopefully a successful upload of part of the animation for the current design-in-progress “Chung Blast Energy Drink” That I am designing. I have take various approaches to how the advert should come across and this one seemed to be the closest I have to what I can make with my current animating abilities.
